Kekkilä 100 years!

2024 will be a special year for the Finnish side of Kekkilä-BVB. Though the Dutch side of our company has been around for almost 120 years now (under the BVB Substrates brand), the Kekkilä brand is now also celebrating its centenary year!

Kekkilä originated as a Finnish gardening brand that has pioneered the gardening culture. Our professional brand for the horticultural sector evolved quickly after, and it has shaped the development of the sector in the Nordics.

With our professional substrates, our brand has revolutionised the perception of plant well-being and productivity by developing plant-specific substrates and fertilisers, a vision that we are still taking forward globally. Kekkilä was the first in Finland to launch garden fertilizers, packaged soils, and uniform growing media products for landscaping.

In those pioneering years, Kekkilä laid the foundation for a new era in horticulture, introducing innovative solutions that forever changed the way we nurture and cultivate crops.
